GASTONIA, NC – Two of the biggest Late Model races in the Carolina’s will share the same stage on one epic weekend in October, as the 15th Annual Carolina Clash Bash and the 4th Annual Bill Hendren Memorial will both be a part of the2nd Annual King of the Carolinas presented by Carolinas First Defense event at Carolina Speedway.
October 16-18, race teams from all over the area will converge on the4/10 mile oval located in Gaston County, NC. The SECA sanctioned Bill Hendren Memorial will pay the winner at least $3,000 and the Carolina Clash Bash will award the victor $5,000. The Clash Bash will be the finale for the 2014 season so the point championship will be decided at the facility dubbed ‘The Action Track’.
Also in action over the weekend will be championship races for other divisions. Friday night October 17th will see a $1,200 to win Stock Car Steel/SRI UMP Modified event along with a $1,000 to win Hornets feature. Domino’s Pizza Street Stocks and Tilley Harley Davidson Renegades will also qualify and run heat races for Saturday night’s $1,500 to win feature events.
On Saturday night the Carolina Clash Super Late Models will be joined by a $1,500 to win Stock Car Steel SRI UMP Modified show, the $1,500 to win features for both the Renegade and Street Stocks, along with a $1,500 to win Monster Min Stock Association event and a $1,000 to win Thunder Sportsman feature.
“We are thrilled that we been able to put all the pieces together to make this one of the most exciting weekends of racing ever planned for the southeast,” said Carolina Speedway’s Clint Elkins. “We are still finalizing the schedule of events, with so much racing going on but we will announce it in the coming weeks.”
Last year’s inaugural King of the Carolinas event drew over 180 race cars from 11 states. Purses for the event are subject to go up over the course of the next few months.
